Pudgie's Chicken, Inc. Announces Opening of Company's First International Restaurant


UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 15, 1997 - Pudgie's Chicken Inc. (Nasdaq: PUDGQ), an
operator of quick service takeout and delivery Pudgie's restaurants, announced today the
opening of its first international restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 900 square foot
restaurant is located in the Indonesia Plaza, one of Indonesia's most popular and largest
shopping plazas.


The Company previously announced on October 18, 1996 it had entered into a franchise
contract with PT. Bina Daya Bintara totaling $150,000 for licensing and franchise fees for
the rights to the first Pudgie's restaurants in Indonesia. PT. Bina expects to open an
additional eight restaurants over the next few years and plans to open the next restaurant in
March 1997.


Steven Wasserman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pudgie's said "We are very
excited about the potential of our first international restaurant. We believe the combination
of our 'All American Menu' with PT. Bina's restaurant expertise will enable Pudgie's to
gain widespread acceptance in Indonesia.


"Training of the new PT. Bina employees occurred in October 1996 at Pudgie's training
facility in Long Island, NY," added Mr. Wasserman.


Bill Torres, Pudgie's Executive Vice President of Franchising, who attended the January 4,
1997 grand opening of Pudgie's first international restaurant, said, "We are very excited
about the potential for expansion in the Indonesian market. We look forward to capitalizing
on additional opportunities for our franchise sales efforts both nationally and
internationally. In addition, we are committed to providing the same quality and service to
the Indonesia dining market that Pudgie's provides in the United States."


Pudgie's Chicken announced on September 18, 1996 that it had filed a voluntary petition
for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code,


Pudgie's Chicken operates and franchises quick service Pudgie's Famous Chicken
restaurants with an emphasis on Home Delivery that offers tasty, reasonably priced meals
featuring fresh skinless fried chicken. Pudgie's also offers a "spicy" chicken menu,
barbecued ribs, shrimp, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, rice, salads, and other side
dishes.
