Posting date: November 12, 2015
Type of communication: Consumer Product Recall
Subcategory: Electronics
Source of recall: Health Canada
Issue: Product Safety
Audience: General Public
Identification number: RA-55670

This recall involves the adaptor Kit that includes an AC adapter,
a USB cable, and ten different tips all black in colour.  The
product allows consumers to charge their electrical equipment
using AC current.  The adaptor is imprinted with "Travel Charger,
Input 180-240VAC, 50-60Hz, 0.2A, Output 5.0V-500mA."

The adaptor kit does not comply with industry standards for
insulation and over-current protection and therefore can overheat

expose consumers to live electrical current posing a risk of
shock.

Neither WakaWaka North America nor Health Canada has received any
reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to
the use of this product.

WakaWaka North America has received four reports of adapters
overheating, including some adapters producing smoke and one
adapter exploding. No injuries have been reported.

Approximately 36 recalled adaptor kits were sold in Canada, and
approximately 700 were distributed in the United States. All
consumer sales were made via the us.waka-waka.com website.

The recalled products were sold from November 2013 to April 2015.
